As a reporter, I know a professional journalist at work when I see one. Because I'd written a lot about Turkey over several decades, Serdar did an interview with me for his Turkish TV outlet in New York. He has that rare interviewing ability which allows a subject to feel engaged in a conversation rather than an interrogation and yet, when the cameras go off you realize that you've done 90 percent of the talking. He pulls you out and directs you with little cajoling and no bullying.
